13 popular baby names. I don't know why I find this topic so fascinating, but I do. I recall back in 2020 I heard a census taker say when he saw the name "Barbara" or "Linda," he knew he'd be talking to a Baby Boomer. I went to school with many a Barbara and Linda, but looking at this Baby Center list of the top baby names of 2024, I don't see the names of any former classmates.

Currently in my class rosters are all of the girl names but only one boy name.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen many Charlottes. I suppose they're coming in a few years. But Emma, Sophia, Isabella? Yeah, I see a lot of those. And Noah and Elijah and Mateo. But not so much of the others yet.
ReplyDelete"Kim" was definitely the name of the 70s. There were five, including me, in my grade alone!!
ReplyDeleteThe younger folks seem to be going back to older names. My great nephew's name is Everett. I was surprised by their choice.
ReplyDeleteI think that when we were young, all of the names that are popular now would have been considered very old-fashion. I am Deborah and that name is rarely used any more and I find that many people cannot even pronounce it, which is why I just go by Deb.
