My best friend sent me an email update about stuff and things. While it was odd for what wasn't there (no mention of how his family is making ends meet now that he's been unemployed for 19 months), what was there was light and entertaining. My favorite part was his recounting of a trip to Vegas with his daughter's J-V basketball team. He was very proud of how well he handled the cooking, all by himself, for the entire group by grilling burgers and chicken legs in the hotel parking lot.
While he didn't have help in the culinary department, he wasn't the lone chaperone. "It was me and two other moms."
Psst! You're not a mom.

These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 60!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live in the burbs and work in the city (Chicago, the best city in the world). I'm an aunt, a friend and a colleague. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
