Is it just me, or ....

.... is there a certain sexual tension between Mary Poppins and Bert?

I love this movie! I'm so glad it's on this evening. While I enjoy it on its own merits, Mary Poppins holds a special place in my personal history. On a rainy afternoon more than 40 years ago, my parents took my sister and me to see it at the movie theater! The lights went down, the curtains parted, and the magic began. Movies have held me spellbound ever since.

I agree. I always thought they had a certain thing going.

  2. A marvellous film, but if there's any tension it's in Dick's attempt to do a Cockney accent :-)
It's notorious in the UK for being one of the worse ones ever.

  3. You can tell by the way she looks at him as he cavorts on the ceiling that a little something something is going on between them. I don't think she's aggravated because he's goofing off with the kids; I think she's aggravated because she wants all that energy directed at HER.

I love Julie Andrews. Oh, how I wanted her to be my mother.

And speaking of moms, I hope yours recovers and heads home soon!

  4. Oh, I've always loved this movie! One of the most perfect musicals ever, along with Singing in the Rain. Julie Andrews has been one of my favorites since I was a little girls and my mom took me to see Sound of Music at the movie theater.

  5. Could it be b/c his name is Dick?

LOL, seriously, loved this film as a mother, it was over 2 hours long and my kids would be mesmerized.

I am around lurking, all is good, my husband is running for school board. Not that I would write about it over on my blog, but it's been interesting and busy. Tomorrow is the election.
