Movie Monday

This week's movie topic is all about Favorites...
Share your favorite YTD movie - not necessarily one released this year, just a new-to-you film viewed this year, and link back here at the Bumbles.

The Fighter. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo had the showy, Oscar-winning mother/son roles, but I found the quieter, more tentative relationship between lovers Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams more moving. These two may be less aggressive and in-your-face, but I think they played the tougher ones, the couple that ultimately prevails. I admired their strength and decency.

  4. This is my 3rd favorite movie of the year!!! Sooooo gooood! Depressing and inspiring all at the same time. Amy Adams did an amazing job. She blows me away with her acting skills. Great choice.

  5. The Fighter is on my DVD rental list so I will likely watch it sometime before the summer is over (I have like 70 movies to watch...and that doesn't even include the ones that I have to stream, lol).

I was never interested in watching The Fighter until after I watched the Academy Awards this year and then that still wasn't enough to get me to actually get it but then as I rented more films during the spring and into this summer, The Fighter often came up as a recommentation from my rental service....and then there are the movie reviews or highlights that I have been reading lately, such as yours. I've finally made the move onto adding The Fighter to my movie watching routine :)

  6. Well, the much unappreciated Wahlberg alone is enough to grab my attention - I've always admired his choices in movie roles and have been impressed by his depth on and off the screen. That said, he will always be Marky Mark to me in my heart ;0)

  7. I'm not really a fan of boxing movies, but Christian Bale was so deserving of the Oscar he won for his portrayal of Dickie Eklund. It's sad how someone with so much potential ruined his life with drugs.

I loved the performances, but found the movie depressing.
