09 August Happiness Challenge -- Day 1

Saturday, August 1 --Today I was captivated by a toddler I've never seen before.

I was wandering around the neighborhood, doing my Saturday errands, and encountered families participating in the village "pet parade." People and their dogs go from station to station and participate in games. Prizes include a package of Twizzlers (at the movie theater) and Botan Rice Candy (at the sushi house) and helium-filled balloons (at the UPS store).

Participating in the festivities was a towheaded toddler, solemnly dragging a dog on wheels. It was clear that to him, the white plastic beagle was a real dog, and his parents were going along with him all the way. Just the thought of him makes me smile.

Forget Your Troubles! C'mon, Get Happy!

Here's a brief explanation of the Challenge: "Each day in August you are to post about something that makes *you* happy. Pretty simple. And, it doesn't even have to be every day if you don't want it to be. It's a great way to remind ourselves that there are positive things going on in our lives, our communities, and the world."

If you play along, let me know.

  3. I found this via NurseExec. I won't be able to post every day this week, since I'll be away, but I can post my week's summary when I return.
