Thursday Thirteen #406

The Fortune 13. Since taxes and finances are at the forefront this week, I'm thinking about big bucks. Here are America's 13 largest companies, based on revenue, as reported by Fortune Magazine in 2024. I knew healthcare was big business, but until this morning I didn't realize how big. There are more healthcare companies in the top 13 than tech or energy or banking. Wow.

1. Walmart

2. Amazon.

3. Apple.

4. United Healthcare.

5. Berkshire Hathaway.

6. CVS Health.

7. Exxon Mobil.

8. Alpahabet. Google

9. McKeeson. Medical supplies

10. Cencora. Pet and animal pharmaceuticals.

11. Costco.

12. JP Morgan Chase.

13. Microsoft.

  3. I think there's something wrong with healthcare companies being so big. Not that healthcare isn't needed, but rather that these companies are committed to increasing their profits at the expense of helping people maintain their health, which is what they should be focused on. Nixon did us all a disservice when he forwarded the idea that healthcare companies could make a profit.
