O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
Who more than self the country loved,
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
I love that verse to "America the Beautiful" - it's one that we seldom hear (let alone sing). I've always gotten goosebumps when hearing (reading) it, and this morning was no exception.
ReplyDeleteAw, Mme. Snowbird, you always say such day-brightening things. Thanks. And CONGRATULATIONS on getting your Snowy blog identity straightened out! No more "anonymous" for you!
