Thursday Thirteen #96 -- This Just in from the North Pole

THE THIRTEEN REQUESTS
SANTA CLAUS RECEIVES MOST

According to ChristmasGifts.net, these are this year's 13 most-often requested gifts for boys and girls, as determined by 4,500 letters to Santa.

1. Clothes
2. Doll
3. WII
4. Cell phone
5. Toys
6. Nintendo DS
7. Laptop
8. iPod
9. Household (I don’t know what this means, either)
10. DVDs
11. Video games
12. Car
13. Puppy

While I've got you in a toy-giving state of mind, why not head over to the Today Show Toy Drive? There you'll find directions on how to share a little Christmas joy with needy kids without even moving away from your keyboard.

  2. My son was playing his DS with his friends when I overheard him say, "I am getting this for Christmas!"

I said, "You are? How do you know?"

    "I asked Santa!"

    "No, you didn't!"

    "But, he knows."

I had to make a phone call to Santa, aka, my sister this morning. Haha! :)

  3. Nothing changes except the nature of the toys. They were much simpler when I was young.

Clothes? Only girls would want clothes. Any boy who gets clothes as a present regards it as a particularly dirty trick!

  17. Interesting list. I wouldn't have thought clothes would top the list, though.

My kids are at the age now when all they want is money so they can go out and buy what they want.

    Happy TT!

The household might mean, a family? maybe a boy or girl from a broken home or an orphan wrote it?

  23. Are those in order? Clothes being first surprised my.

Wonder if household means things for their room - pictures, photo frames, pillows, rugs, desk, etc.

  28. Dear Commenters -- I've included the ChristmasGifts.net. If you don't like the categories (whether or not a doll is a toy) or don't believe that clothes came in at #1, please address all questions to them. Honest, I didn't get 4500 letters to Santa and I didn't compile the list myself.

I guess that the language here reflects what the little boys and girls wrote in their letters to Jolly Old Nick, and they were probably too excited by the prospect of Christmas to get bogged down in the details.
