Bill Clinton, shown here arriving in North Korea, did good today, Acting as a "diplomat at large," he negotiated the release of journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee.
I'm happy to see the Obama Administration using him where he can do the most good. For, to most of the world, he isn't "Bad Bill," the self-indulgent Baby Boomer who can't control his appetites, the one who is so often the butt of jokes on late night TV. Internationally he's regarded as "Good Bill," an intelligent, warm, quick-witted and open representative of the United States.
Over the past 17 years, I have come to believe "Bad Bill" and "Good Bill" are two parts of the same whole. I think we all are comprised of negative and positives, it's just since Bill Clinton is an outsized personality, both his positives and negatives are bigger than life.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
I've always thought history would be kind to Clinton. He did good.
ReplyDeleteOnly courageous, peace minded leader of democratic party has made such great stride and be successful. Hopely this will bring peace and end the great tragedy lasted just too long in Korean Peninsula. Ex. President Bill Clinton deserves Nobel Peace Prize for this great deed. Thank you Mr. President Clinton. You are Korean's hero all over the world.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if both the right and the left acknowledged the good works of Mr. Clinton, Mr. Gore, and for that matter, Mr. Carter. In an age where people leave public office only enrich themselves by becoming lobbyists for large corporations, they show a different, and imho, a better path to follow.
ReplyDeleteI think Bill Clinton will one day be known as one of our great presidents....you did him justice here today!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't he be a fantastic Secretary of State!!
