These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

I had one a couple years ago...it was not bad. I took the pills...I have problems drinking icky stuff. They worked quickly...but I was not up all night, which I had heard others say they were. The test is nothing...you are knocked out and don't know anything going on. I was worried for nothing. I am sure you will be okay too...I will pray for the Lord to provide you with peace.
ReplyDeleteIt's a piece of cake once the prep is done. Enjoy the drugs and before you know it, it's over and you won't remember a thing. Really. And when they ask "would you like to watch your procedure?"
ReplyDeleteThe answer is a resounding NO and NO and NO.
Trust me on that one.
Okay, I'll tell you my story...
ReplyDeleteI was told nothing after midnight on Tuesday, (my lunch was at 4:30 and I got home at 11:45, so nothing after lunch) Clear liquids on Wednesday, Go lightly on Thursday, and the procedure was scheduled for Friday AM...however the Dr was running late, at about 10:30 I felt verrrrry light headed, stated I was dehydrated, but THEY insisted I was having a heart attack...rushed from the center to the ER where the ER doctow wnted to know WHY it had been so long since I had eaten. I informed him of the situation, and he promptly got me a full meal, and told me to reschedule the procedure.(dehydrated-no heart attack)
I called the doctor to reschedule and informed him he was full of sh*t, and because of the GO-Lightly, I was not. He then scheduled a stress test and then did the colonoscopy, this time with the pills....it was a snap... not to worry.
Thanks for the support, ladies! I am scared and grossed out, I freely admit, and I appreciate your support. I bought eight (or was it 10?) little Jello-O cups today to "dine on" Tuesday. Hopefully that will help stave off dehydration. Keep me in your thoughts! I welcome/need it.
ReplyDeleteI will not start to worry about this... I will not start to worry about this... I have this very self-centered approach to other people's pain/problems: immediately start fretting when they will happen to me. At least in this case I am prepared with a graphic. Always good.
