Thursday Thirteen #247

Thirteen charities I donated to in 2021. My taxes have been filed, and in preparation I had to go through my financial paperwork. According to receipts, here are the charities I gave to most often.

1. My church

2. The local food pantry

3. Doctors without Borders

4. Harmony House for Cats

5. The Night Ministry

6. Toys for Tots

7. Red Door Animal Shelter

8. PAWS Chicago Animal Shelter

9. Ford's Theater Society

10. Planned Parenthood

11. John F. Kennedy Library

12. World Wildlife Fund

13. Goodwill

How about you? Do you do your taxes in February,  do you wait until the April deadline, or do you fall somewhere in between?

  1. Unfortunately, we are procrastinators. Not quite to the April deadline, but definitely late in the game.

  2. We are doing our taxes late this year in March. You have a lot you give to! Good for you, they are blessed!

  4. My taxes are with my accountant, thankfully. I'm sure she will have questions. We donated to quite a number of charities last year; I am glad that the option to deduct that was returned (I think) on the 2021 tax form.

  5. Not only have I filed, but I received my paltry refund (I shouldn't complain--at least I got a refund).

  6. I love all the charities you donate to--I do the taxes literally the day I have all the paperwork, which this year, was January 21st or something ridiculous. I love that I can download everything online, and don't have to wait on the mail. Thanks for giving to so many fine charities!

  7. I donate to a number of charities, including to a food pantry and I do a lot of volunteer work at nonprofits but unfortunately I cannot write them off on my taxes, I do it for love.
Thanks to Trump "taxes cuts" and limiting the amount state and local taxes you can deduct I max out on deductions. So I end up paying taxes on taxes. Property taxes in the northeast are sky high, in town the mill rate is 34 per $1000.
