BTW, the national press keeps saying Walgreens is a "Chicago-based company." It's headquartered in Deerfield, one of the whiter white-bread suburbs. It couldn't be more different from Chicago. As offended as Chicagoans are by being confused with Deerfield, those folks must be even more upset. After all, Chicagoans are what they fled when they went to Deerfield.
Today's Happiness (2) -- Red Robin. A tiny little location on Michigan Avenue somehow escaped my notice ... until now. My burger was delicious. My gastrointestinal tract is not as enthusiastic as my palette, but I still don't regret my choice. It's that good. As the commercials say, YUMMMM!
Don't know what I'd do without Walgreens--it's the closest actual store to us now that we've moved out of the center of town. It's great for picking up milk, prescriptions, whatever. I love Red Robin as well--have you ever had the garlic fries? To die for...

CVS here is like Walgreens there (and Rite Aid in Central Pennsylvania).

ReplyDeleteI think people in other states just refer to any towns in Illinois as "Chicago." I never even knew Walgreens was based in Illinois, let alone Deerfield! Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThe closest Walgreens is about 45 minutes from me, they seem to be a good drug store but I've just never had the opportunity to shop there.
