I'm home from Christmas in Key West. Oh, am I ever home! It was bright and 80º yesterday when I got on the plane, and 0º last night when I landed in Chicago.
But I haven't slept well these last few nights. Not because I miss the sun and the palm trees, but because the Key West No-See-Ums feasted on me. Those welts have literally interrupted my slumber.

So even though I had a lovely holiday, and I'm happy to be home, I feel that right now I'm experiencing the worst the South and the Midwest have to offer.
Oh--poor you! That really takes the fun out of your holiday.
ReplyDeletePS--Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteWow! I know I am late to this thread; your post was made almost 2 years ago, but I will give my 2 cents, nonetheless. I know the dread of no see ums. We have them here in hordes. We call them sandflies, so if you ever come to Jamaica and say "no see ums are eating me alive" people would look at you weird. ahhahaha
ReplyDeleteBut on a serious note, always travel with repellents. There are a variety of them on the market for no see ums, some even applying as a moisturizer. There's this huge rave about "Avon's Skin So Soft Bath Oil". I've personally never used it, but heard it keeps no see ums at bay for about 2 hours. I've also done extensive research on no see ums since they are horrible here, and this article (https://thebugagenda.com/how-to-stop-no-see-ums-from-biting-you/)really shows how you can stop no see ums from biting you in various scenarios. I do hope the source helps you or your readers.
