These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

Welcome to Travis' meme - it's a great one, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI love your song choices and they definitely bring back specific memories for me, too! I couldn't tell you the last time I heard "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" but I love it! Wow but the summer of 1973 was a darned long time ago ... !
If you stop by my blog I did a summer set this week myself but I specifically used songs that had summer somewhere in the title or lyrics; it seemed appropriate what with the calendar officially kicking off summer this week.
Hope to see you back at the meme again next week!
By the by, I just have to say, I checked out your profile and I love the Edward Gorey quote (my daughter is a major Edward Gorey fan) as well as your choice of movies! I thought "Shutter Island" was very well done and it definitely had me guessing and second-guessing all the way through; "Mary Poppins" is of course practically perfect in every way; and "The Way We Were" never fails to make me cry!
ReplyDeleteNice mix. It's been a long time since I heard "Mississippi". You really captured that time period and summer feel.
ReplyDeleteDon't laugh - but I hadn't heard Day Dreamin before. And it promptly became my favorite one from your set today. Loved it!
