My big, old, gloriously trusting and loving tomcat Joey had dental work today. He is approximately 10 years old, and this was the first time he's been under anesthesia since he was a kitten. I was a nervous wreck, waiting to hear how the procedure went and eager to get him back home. He came through it well, but he's still groggy and woozy and completely uninterested in food, water, or the other cats. I'm exhausted.
I don't think I'm cut out to be a mother. If taking my cat to the vet for dental work traumatized me, imagine how hard the first day of school, or swim class, or driving lessons, etc., would have been for me.
I am sure he will be fine. Grumpy but fine
ReplyDeleteI am sure he will be back to normal, probibly before you.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you there. I had 4 cats (down to 2 now) and when they were not feeling well, it just killed me emotionally. I guess, as parents, you do what you have to but goodness - I don't know how they do it!
ReplyDeleteLove to you and Mr. Kitty Cat.
Awww...the poor baby - but, Lady Hawk is right; he'll probably be over it before you!
ReplyDeleteLady Hawk said just what I was going to say--it's worse for you than for your big fluffy man.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind wishes sent Joey's way. He still seems a little dreamy, but he's more social today. He's such a trusting, open hearted old soul, I feel like I did him dirty by taking him to the vet. But he has forgiven me. In fact, I suspect he views me not as the one who took him to the vet, but instead as the one who rescued him.
