Sliding up the banisters ... carousel horse races ... jumping in and out of chalk drawings ... tea parties on the ceiling ... From the moment she descended upon the Banks' home, somehow clutching the advertisement that the children wrote and their father disposed of in the fireplace, special things began to happen. She, of course, is Mary Poppins, my first favorite movie heroine. I still think she's practically perfect in every way.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
great choice! indeed I'd go as far as to say it's supercalafragalisticexpealadocious!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was going to have difficulty thinking up movies with supernatural themes but there are more of these movies than I realized. Mary Poppins never occurred to me & it's a movie I liked since I was much younger. When I was a little girl I loved the scenne when Mary Poppins and the other characters jumped into the paintings. I though that was so cool!

I always wished for a Mary Poppins-like babysitter. Never got one, though. So when I started babysitting, I tried to be fun like that.
ReplyDeleteTea parties on the ceiling?! I ask you, having tea parties on the ceiling?! And highly questionable outings of every other kind!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice!
You always find the most terrific screen shots to share. I wonder how much fun you have sifting through all those image options ;0)
