Tonight I had caramel corn -- lots of it -- after dinner.
Not good for my diet. Nor my currently fragile stomach. Nor my self esteem.
BAD GAL!
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
Quick story--I was getting my hair cut the other day and the woman in the chair next to me was talking about her diet. She was saying that you can only eat 5 grapes at a time because if you eat more than 5, it's just pure sugar (or something like that).
ReplyDeleteYou know what? I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm at the stage of my life when I just don't want to have to count the grapes anymore.
So I say--if you want to eat a bunch of caramel corn once in awhile, so be it! It's not the end of the world. It's not about being a bad person. It's not about being weak. It's just about not feeling the need to count those damn grapes every day. :-)
You took a little comfort during a downtime. It's not habitual or game-changing. When you're feeling better you'll have stronger willpower and be able to resist more easily. If you want to. Meantime, don't beat yourself up!
ReplyDeleteSorry your tummy is still troubling you.
