Bookmama knows how I worry, and was good enough to send me this photo. It does make me feel better, because I want a united party going forth and kicking ass after the convention.
Looking at this photo, I feel proud. An African-American, a woman and a millworker's son are all in the running. Isn't this what they taught us in school -- that anyone can grow up to become President? It's finally true.
Thank you, Bookmama.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
I'm so glad you liked this photo! Looking at it again with your comments makes my eyes well up with tears. It's just amazing to me that this year we have not just the first "viable" female candidate but also the first "viable" black candidate.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first presidential election that BB will remember (and we talk about it at dinner, etc) and I'm so glad to be able to show him pictures like that.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words... I think this one is worth far more than that! Right on, Bookmama and The Gal Herself. We can't be a house divided!! I love the unity and the potential this picture shows.
