These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

October Challenge -- Day 7
I'm joining Ms. Kwiz for her October blogging challenge.
Day 7: My magazine collection. I used to receive a ton of magazines, weeklies and monthlies. Then it dwindled to a half dozen. Now it's just Allure and US, and US was a gift from my aunt. I do reach for Esquire whenever I'm at my chiropractor's office, but then I put it back on the shelf.
Garden Railways, Martha Stewart Living, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, NFL, Architectural Digest, Smithsonian, National Geographic, Dreamy Life... I cannot even remember them all.
ReplyDeleteAt one point The Atlantic Monthly published a brand new story by Mark Twain. They must have forgotten about it. For one hundred years. So. My friend Spewgie and I went to the newsstand and bought a copy. It was so good I sent away for a subscription.
The next issue The Atlantic announced it was discontinuing fiction.
Now just The New Yorker. Which I throw in my suitcase to read on vacation.
I used to be a magazine junkie, but these days I only get a couple of decorating ones...purely for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI still occasionally pick up People.
