These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

I don't recall this ever happening before
Today was called because of cold. I phoned the main switchboard and heard that the office would be closed today because of the extreme weather. Because it snowed so much last night, the trains are all messed up. Very grateful I don't have to go out in this.
As I write this, I've got Rey on my lap (making keystrokes difficult) and Joey beside me and Charlotte behind me. My heart aches for the strays who aren't as warm, dry and uncomfortable as these three felines.
My office is open today, but I took a personal day. I drive about an hour each way to get to work and my gut was telling me "Don't do it today!"
ReplyDeleteSo far I've spent the day reading with a cat on my lap, surfing the web, and reading some more. I'm about to go bake some cookies.
Enjoy the rest of your day in the arctic tundra known as today's Chicagoland!
That's just crazy! Hope you enjoyed your day at home. Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrr! We actually got up to 45 degrees today and it rained like a son of a gun. Now it's going into a deep freeze and everything will be iced over.
ReplyDeleteI hope it warmed up for you! I had to work on Tuesday, and it was not fun venturing out. Fortunately I didn't spend a whole lot of time outside.
