"Close to 30 dead, mostly children."
"Yes, by all means, let's have more handguns available out there!" That's what I have been shouting at the TV ever since I heard about the CT school shooting.
I refuse to believe that this is what our forefathers had in mind when the Bill of Rights was written. There has to be a way to fix this! "… mostly children." God help us.
I've been veering back and forth between horrified heartbreak over the events in Connecticut, and joyous elation over the birth of my granddaughter, at almost the exact same time this morning. Feeling very mood-swingy right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond words.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about this since I first heard the news reports this morning. Sobbing when I think of the families who've lost children, or the children who witnessed the murder of their classmates and friends, or when I had to talk to my sixth-grader about it. And anger that I had to talk to my sixth-grader about such a topic. I hope that my first-grader doesn't hear about it. I don't intend to tell her about it because I just don't think she needs to know that this happens, that someone came into a classroom - a safe place - and shot kids and teachers dead.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing references to it being "too soon" to talk about gun control. I think we're too LATE.
(Crying again as I type this.)
