Documentaries You'd Like to See Made. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post.My choice was inspired by Molly's suggestion of a documentary about the life of a maid. Author Barbara Ehrenreich wrote about her life as a maid, waitress, retail clerk, etc., and how hard it is to get by on minimum wage. The book, Nickel and Dimed, is not that well written (the author can't keep herself out of the stories), but the people she meets are unforgettable. There's a great deal of camaraderie and generosity among the laborers she encountered, and these people were often as inspiring as their lives were challenging. I'd love to hear them speak for themselves on camera.
The guy that did the documentary "Supersize Me" had a series on tv called "30 Days" where he would experience 30 days of whatever the subject was about...I haven't watched it yet, but I do remember that one was about living in minimum wage.

ReplyDelete...i was not impressed with it either. picked it up at the airport while traveling...i think it went to goodwill...ha ha
I am surprised that so many people today were so interested in a documentary about maids!
ReplyDeleteI hate books where the author is all me me me. Sounds like she had a great story to tell aside from herself.
