Pitchers and catchers report for training camp today!Alas, this is the first spring in decades that I'm not checking on my beloved future Hall of Famer, Greg Maddux.
But poignancy is part of the beauty of baseball. So as I look back I will also look forward -- to April 6, when the 2009 campaign officially begins in Houston.

Just got an email from my sister in Iowa, and she has invited us (Rickbo and me) to meet her and her husband in Chicago on August 14 to attend a Cubs game...I think against Pittsburgh. I suspect we will go to the game and then spend the week end in - or around - Chicago. I am so excited. Haven't been to Chicago for years - and we're ready to head back!!
