My friend lives in Key West, and yet never does any of the "tourist-y" stuff like this. Here's hoping it all comes off without a hitch.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

One week from tonight …
I will be on this sunset dinner cruise in Key West. Today is my friend and host's birthday, and but this will be our celebration. From their website: "Watch the sun slowly set into the Gulf of Mexico while enjoying a specially prepared dinner that features an array of appetizers, fresh salads, choice of filet mignon, local fish, or tasty chicken breast preparation and a dessert that could be key lime pie with berry sauce or a chocolate decadence."
Ah, Key West - the sunsets, Mallory Square, Hemmingway House, the cats, the chickens, the list is huge - one of our favorite places to visit (altho we haven't been there for several years). Of course, while we were there, we visited and did all the "touristy" things that the city and other keys have to offer. And, being the explorers that we are, we even managed to get off the beaten track and find a few places that I am SURE were not on the list of "things to see and do in Key West". We even managed to take Book and Tim with us for a few days. It's always nice to share a favorite place with some of your favorite people. Have a wonderful trip - hope all of the plans work out. Even tho we are in Florida, Key West isn't exactly a day trip for us. Maybe one of these days we will take a long week end and head down there.
ReplyDeletethat will be fun eh?
ReplyDeleteMme Snowbird, you sure know the island! It's great to hear from someone who is familiar with the landscapes and tales. Did you get to the Key West cemetery?
ReplyDeleteYes, No Nonsense, it'll be fun. I'm trying to accentuate the positive …
Absolutely we went to the Key West cemetery - it was verrrry interesting...one stacked right on top of the other. It's also very interesting to be eating outside and having chickens and stray cats running around at your feet. Well, I'm sure you like the idea of the cats - maybe not the chickens and roosters! And if you have a chance, try a meal or two at "Sloppy Joes"...great shrimp and other delights.
