These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.

August Happiness -- Saturday 25
My weekly $2 dream. Before I go to sleep tonight, I'm tossing out my two losing Illinois State Lottery tickets. It doesn't bother me that I didn't win. Since 9:30 on Thursday morning, when I purchased them, I have been very merrily spending my prospective millions. The $2 was an investment in imagination and optimism, and it was fun while it lasted.
Can you please come to my house and teach my dad how to throw the lotto tickets away after the drawing. Whenever I clean, I seem to pick up old discarded lotto tickets. It's quite sad.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who buys a lottery ticket for the pleasure of "spending" the imaginary money! Tim and I used to enjoy spending the lotto money together when we were on long car trips. Still like to do it sometime but we try not to do it (too much) when BB can hear.
