And it's very melodramatic for my taste. I only wonder if Judy would have had a more brilliant comeback - and lived longer - if she got that Oscar.
Thanks for the kind comment!
Kisses!LĂȘhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02419693749682458647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27448101.post-83198632256096077372018-02-26T12:55:15.608-06:002018-02-26T12:55:15.608-06:00You know, of course, that Judy Garland was my all-...You know, of course, that Judy Garland was my all-time favorite celebrity (I met her once) and A Star Is Born is my #1 favorite movie of all time. The story of her losing the Oscar is a terrible one, with all cameramen in her hospital room, expecting to hear her acceptance speech and then pulling all their gear angrily, as if it were her fault I enjoyed Janet Gaynor's version and HATED Barbra Streisand's version. Now I hear they are re-making it again. I won't see it.Bev Sykeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16794928133704720689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27448101.post-13822901032292795982018-02-25T19:01:02.917-06:002018-02-25T19:01:02.917-06:00I always preferred Janet Gaynor's version of A...I always preferred Janet Gaynor's version of A Star is Born. As talented as Judy was, I've never been a particular fan. But it must have been devastating to her to lose for what is now perhaps her most famous role. The Oscar's seem to be more of a popularity contest at times than an accurate judge of talent. Thank you for raising my blood pressure with this wonderful recollection of Oscar's greatest crime. It's important to revisit the pain now and again. I thank you for this entry to the blogathon.

AuroraCitizen Screenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11596338896095275116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27448101.post-71703862611039746762018-02-24T14:17:47.732-06:002018-02-24T14:17:47.732-06:00I need to see A Star Is Born again. I love Grace Kelly's performance in "The Country Girl", but not so sure it trumped Garland's performance.

One movie I still haven't seen is "Carmen Jones".
