My best friend lives outside Denver and he tells me that his going-into-sixth-grade daughter is thrilled that her hometown is going to site of both a black's and a woman's names going into nomination for President. She's been pleading to get into the convention center and, failing that, wants to be at Obama's open-air speech.
It doesn't look like she's going to get into either event, and that's too bad. But isn't it uplifting that she finds this so positive and important? Her enthusiasm touches my heart.
These are the thoughts and observations of me — a woman of a certain age. (Oh, my, God, I'm 65!) I'm single. I'm successful enough (independent, self supporting). I live just outside Chicago, the best city in the world. I'm an aunt and a friend. I feel that voices like mine are rather underrepresented online or in print. So here I am. If my musings resonate with you, please visit my blog again sometime.
